• Made exclusively by The Tudor Tailor

Sewing pattern for a woman's smock of the style worn between 1485 and 1603 with neckline and sleeve variations. Neckline variations include: round, square, high, and frilled. The smock can be made in a basic style for lower class Tudors or with collars and cuffs with neck and wrist frills for higher class impressions. The smock can also be made with a simple collar and cuffs that separate ruffs, cuffs and bands can be pinned to.

This is among the first of our new, improved pattern range. The graded pattern is clearer and easier to understand with differentiated lines for each size and the use of colour to indicate alternative cuts. This pattern is graded into four sizes: small, medium, large and extra large and will fit bust measurements 29½in (75cm) to 51in (131cm).

A fully illustrated booklet is included with comprehensive step-by-step making instructions (for making by machine or by hand), guidance for choosing fabrics, and construction tips & techniques.

Based on research carried out for The Typical Tudor book, including a survey of 57,687 items of dress. Highly researched and based on documentary descriptions, extant examples and paintings. See the image of the pattern envelope for specific sources.

Our bleached linen makes up nicely into smocks. Our hemp also makes lovely, soft smocks and works especially well for working class Tudors.

Note, photos of actual garments are examples only – no garments are included with this product.
