Sewing pattern for a high-bodied round gown with hanging Spanish sleeves and petticoat. Ideal for 16th century impressions from 1575-1603 - perfect for reenactors.
This gown is based on research undertaken for 'The Greensleeves Project', which was headed by early music specialist Tamsin Lewis. Tamsin commissioned Ninya Mikhaila to make the green satin gown from the famous Elizabethan ballad, while a team of other makers and specialists created the other garments mentioned in the song's 18 verses.

The graded pattern is easy to understand with differentiated lines for each size. A fully illustrated booklet is included with layout plans, clear and comprehensive step-by-step making instructions, guidance for choosing materials, and construction tips and techniques. This garment requires some hand sewing.
Highly researched and based on documentary descriptions, extant examples and paintings. Please see the image of the pattern envelope for specific sources.
Please note, this gown and petticoat are designed to be worn and fitted over other garments. The most usual would be a linen smock, farthingale and either a pair of bodies or a supportive upper-bodied petticoat or kirtle. The patterns for these garments are not included in this product and would need to be purchased separately.
This pattern is available in either larger sizes or smaller sizes. Please see the size charts included in the photos for this listing to ensure you're selecting the correct pattern for you.
Note, photos of actual garments are examples only – no garments are included with this product.
