• Made exclusively by The Tudor Tailor

Sewing pattern for men’s full-length bias-cut footed hose (the period-appropriate version of tights) of the style suitable for typical men from 1485 to 1603, worn by the elite to the 1540s and middle class men to the 1570s. Features slashing detail and functional codpiece fastening with two codpiece styles from which to choose (early Tudor or mid-16th century variations). Ideal for 15th and 16th century impressions - perfect for reenactors.

Please note, this pattern includes slashing above the knee. We also offer a pattern for men's plain bias-cut footed hose without slashing.

This is part of our new, improved pattern range. The graded pattern is clearer and easier to see with differentiated lines for each size.

A fully illustrated booklet is included with comprehensive step-by-step making instructions, guidance for choosing materials, and construction tips & techniques. This garment requires some hand sewing.

Based on research carried out for The Typical Tudor (2022), including a survey of 57,687 items of dress.

This is a thoroughly researched pattern based on documentary descriptions, extant examples and paintings. See the image of the pattern envelope for specific sources.

Our woollen 2/2 twill fabrics have a good stretch on the bias and work well for men's hose. We carry that fabric in several different colours, which you can find in our fabrics section.

This pattern is available in either larger sizes or smaller sizes. Please see the size chart included in the photos for this listing to ensure you're selecting the correct pattern for you.

Note, photos of actual garments are examples only – no garments are included with this product.
