Finished garment - Frieze poor man's hood as featured in The Typical Tudor

Frieze wool hood made for The Typical Tudor book (see page 173). Suitable for a poor man throughout the entire Tudor era, 1485 to 1603.

Based on a number of sources including a figure in a stained glass window (circa 1480) depicting October from the Labours of the months at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, inventory number C.134-1931 and also bedesmen on a monument to two unknown women (circa 1520) at St Andrew’s Church, Prestwold, Charnwood, Leicestershire.

The thick, non-fray wool is cut at the edges, rather than hemmed. Very cosy and warm!
