A frieze wool hood or 'husbandman's hood' made for The Typical Tudor book (see page 173) and based on a cutting diagram in Leonfeldner Schnittbuch, a 16th century Austrian master tailor's guild manuscript dating to around 1590 from Bad Leonfelden. The original is in the Oberösterreichisches Landesarchiv in Austria.

Suitable for a poor man or husbandman throughout the entire Tudor era, 1485 to 1603. The thick, non-fray wool is cut at the edges, rather than hemmed. Includes a point that can be worn over the lower face for warmth and protection or tucked inside. Very cosy and warm!
