Tiny tailored treasures - hand-stitched decorations or ornaments, doublets and bodies (bodices)
Tiny tailored treasures - hand-stitched decorations or ornaments, doublets and bodies (bodices)
• Natural silk and wool materials with metallic accessories
• Hand stitched
• Bodies measure 2½in (6.5cm) high
• Doublets measure 3½in (9cm) high
• Made exclusively for The Tudor Tailor
These hand-stitched miniature garments come in a choice of materials and colours. They were inspired by a miniature version of an 18th century coat Ninya made for Coram, the trust responsible for the Foundling Hospital in London. The tiny coat was hung on their Christmas tree by HM the Queen in December 2018.
The tiny bodies and doublets are based on patterns taken from our book, The Tudor Tailor and made in rich remnants from Jane and Ninya’s days at Hampton Court Palace – plus silk damask from the new cover boy’s jacket featured on the second edition of The King’s Servants.
Since there is limited expensive silk and cloth from these previous projects, each of these decorations is a one-of-a-kind item. Please note that photos are examples of the fabrics included, but you will receive your own unique piece.
They make unique Christmas ornaments or an inspiring any-day decoration for the seamstress or Tudor enthusiast. Each tiny garment is presented in an individual box making for an ideal gift - and not just for Christmas!
