This particular design is based on worked thread buttons on an extant doublet worn by Herzog Moritz von Sachsen-Larenburg (1605-1610) in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, Nürnberg. This doublet was illustrated in Janet Arnold's Patterns of Fashion 3: the cut and construction of clothes for men and women c1560-1620.
We're thrilled to offer a variety of reproduction buttons made exclusively for The Tudor Tailor by Michael Perry. All are based on original sources and are cast in lead-free pewter. They are sold in boxes of 12.
