Tudor style round gown made for The Typical Tudor book and suitable for a middling or gentle woman from 1500 to the 1520s
Made of violet woollen 2/2 twill fabric lined with red linen. All finishing is by hand and there is no visible machine stitching on the inside or outside. The bodies fasten at the front with pairs of handwoven 100 per cent silk satin ribbons. The silk ribbons continue all the way down the skirt opening and are also used to lace the sleeve openings under the cuffs. The gown is guarded at the hem with black velvet which is also used for the sleeve cuffs. The gown on the model is worn over a side-lacing kirtle which is not included.
Worn only for a photoshoot and a small number of indoor markets the gown is in excellent condition.
Black kirtle and headwear are not included.
