Woman's early to mid-century Tudor style round gown made for The Typical Tudor book and suitable for a lowly or middling woman from the 1530s to the 1570s

Made of 100% Welsh undyed 'poor black' russet wool lined in the body and skirt with vintage hemp/linen and in the lower part of the sleeves with soft, undyed cream 'sheep's colour' wool. The gown has a low, square neckline at the front and deep V at the back. The skirt is full and pleated at the waist. The gown fastens at the front with seven pairs of handmade brass hooks and eyes. All finishing is by hand and there is no visible machine stitching on the inside or outside. 

Worn for a photoshoot and a small number of events the gown is in very good condition. The hem lining is slightly grubby on the inside.
