Man's Tudor style full length footed bias cut hose made for The Typical Tudor book and suitable for a man of any status from the 1480s to the 1530s and for a lowly man up until 1600
Made of 100% wool 2/2 twill cloth in 'poor black' and lined from the waist to the upper thigh with white linen. The codpiece is lined with wool and interlined with canvas. Six pairs of hand-stitched eyelets are worked around the waist, through canvas interlining, for trussing the hose to a doublet. Additional hand stitched eyelets are worked at the cente front for fastening and to fasten the codpiece. The hose are handsewn with unbleached linen thread. All finishing is by hand and there is no visible machine stitching on the inside or outside.
Worn for one photoshoot only and displayed on a mannequin for one indoor marker the hose is in excellent condition. The only slight area of damage is on the sole of the left foot where a rod from the mannequin was pushed through for display - see last photo.
