Man's mid-century Tudor style doublet made for The Typical Tudor book and suitable for a middling or gentle man from the 1540s to the 1560s
Made of vintage hemp/linen canvas and lined with brushed cotton 'fustian'. The sleeves are slashed and pinked and the doublet fastens at the front and wrists with handmade thread buttons and hand-stitched buttonholes. The buttons are pushed through holes in the doublet and secured with a linen tape, meaning that they can be easily swopped for alternative styles. The lower edge of the doublet is worked with hand-stitched eyeletsfor trussing hose. All finishing is by hand and there is no visible machine stitching on the inside or outside.
Worn only for a photoshoot and one presentation the doublet is in excellent condition.
No other garments are included.
