Man's mid-century Tudor style doublet made for The Typical Tudor book and suitable for a lowly, middling or gentle man from the 1540s to the 1560s
Made of goatskin leather dressed suede side out and lined with unbleached linen. The skirt features working pockets. The doublet fastens at the front with small 'Flower Dome' pewter buttons and hand-stitched buttonholes. The buttons are pushed through holes in the doublet and secured with a linen tape, meaning that they can be easily swopped for alternative styles. The sleeves fasten at the cuff with handmade brass hooks and eyes. A strip of canvas is worked with hand-stitched eyelets inside the waist for trussing hose. The collar features a decorative pinking detail at the back. All finishing is by hand and there is no visible machine stitching on the inside or outside.
Worn only for a photoshoot and one presentation the doublet is in excellent condition.
No other garments are included.
