Man's early to mid-century Tudor style jerkin closely based on examples from The Mary Rose. Made for The Typical Tudor book and suitable for a lowly, middling or gentle man from the 1510s to the 1550s
Made of goatskin leather dressed skin side out. The jerkin fastens at the front with small 'Common Ball' pewter buttons which are pushed through holes in the jerkin and secured with a linen cord, meaning that they can be easily swopped for alternative styles. The jerkin features a hidden pocket on the inside of the left skirt and the piecing in the skirt copies the original Mary Rose version exactly. The integral wings feature a decorative pinking details. The jerkin is entirely hand stitched in linen thread and all edges are finished with tiny strips of leather which look similar to modern piping.
Worn only for a photoshoot and displayed on a mannequin at an indoor market the jerkin is in excellent condition.
No other garments are included.
