Early Tudor lady's gown with ‘W’ neckline, made for The Queen’s Servants book and featured on the front cover!

Worn only for a photoshoot and two special events. Made in black silk camlet (a fine grograin) edged with dark crimson velvet. Narrow sleeves fasten at the wrist with handmade silk laces finished with handmade brass aiglets threaded through seven pairs of hand worked eyelets and dark crimson cuffs. Fastened at the front with eleven pairs of handmade brass hooks and eyes. The pleats at the back of the full skirt are 'stuffed' with cotton to give them their sculpted shape. Lined in black linen.

The matching partlet of black velvet is edged with dark crimson velvet and lined in black linen. The partlet has no fastenings and should be pinned in place. (Pins not included.)

The gown and partlet are in excellent condition, the only sign of wear being slight scuff marks on the linen lining at the hem of the gown (see last photo). These are not visible from the outside.

The gown is worn in the photos over a supportive side-lacing kirtle. The kirtle is not included in this sale.

Headdress and silk girdle are also not included.
